I vote for option #1, removing HConnection. We went by the book deprecating it
(Was first deprecated in 0.99). Deprecation went in here:

Another reason to purge it is because our Connection hierarchy has too much by
way of progeny... its a pain navigating it all... HConnection is the ugly
child. With it gone we'll be into a nice clean space where its Connection of
the internal ClusterConnection and thats it.
