(N.B. that I purposefully have not yet assigned this to myself because I'm not
confident about my bandwidth to do this while continuing 1.2.z maintenance
releases. Since that's still marked as our stable line I personally feel like
it has to be my priority. If I do end up handling 1.4.z, my goal will be for
1.2 to stop being the stable release line; now I feel like this should have
been an email to dev@)
