Thanks for reviving this [~enis], will check the patch and try the YCSB tests

bq. BTW, these metrics would have saved us days worth of debugging in a recent
case, so let's get this patch in one way or the other.
Understood, the same in our case and it's the exact reason we already put this
(a customized version) online for one and a half years (smile).
