+1 on #1, #2, and #3 in the above. Subtasks? Just enable this now and see how
it goes? We can turn it off later. I'm interested in what happens when a node
is up against the limits and runs out of memory -- what does the failure look
like? Is it a clean indication that we are out of memory?
