On second thought, after reading this answer
(https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2250031/null-check-in-an-enhanced-for-loop),
i'd prefer what already exists. But maybe rename fn to 'emptyIfNull' and use
Collections.EMPTY_LIST directly.
