Umesh Agashe commented on HBASE-18792:
--------------------------------------

bq. Are you saying it is not possible to have a bug where assignments get into
an inconsistent state and need fixing any more?

Not at all. But fixing assignments with HBCK by HDFS directory and file layout
manipulation will not be available. Preferred way as of 2.0+, is to let Master
handle it by submitting operations/ procedures.

> hbase-2 needs to defend against hbck operations

> hbck needs updating to run against hbase2. Meantime, if an hbck from hbase1
> is run against hbck2, it may do damage. hbase2 should defend itself against
> hbck1 ops.
