Sean Busbey commented on HBASE-14876:
-------------------------------------

just a datapoint, but I tried verifying something with the archetypes we
already have live and was unable to successfully get {{mvn archetype:generate}}
to let me use them either via published-in-central version or a local install
following our current README.

> To help onboard new users, we should provide maven archetypes for hbase
> client applications. Off the top of my head, we should have templates for
> - hbase client application with all dependencies
> - hbase client application using client-shaded jar
> - mapreduce application with hbase as input and output (ie, copy table)
