okay fun finding: changes to our personality cause the "Re-executing against
the patched versions to perform further tests." message above, but don't appear
to be reflected in what actually runs.
I tested this version locally by applying the v1 commit and then testing with
the WIP commit from before. I guess I can get a precommit run by using a branch.
