That sounds good to me... There seems to be broad agreement on removing it, and
on aligning with Hadoop. Feel free to create a DISCUSS thread, but I don't
recall how it's done in HBase. IIRC in Hive you just need 3 +1s for branch
merges/major dependency changes - smth similar might be enough
