FYI for observers, this is bumping up 2 major versions.
Do you happen to know how adoption is going in other projects? IIRC we set a
version to handle harmonizing where we get Avro from other projects:
https://github.com/apache/hbase/blob/master/pom.xml#L1843
also we'll need to coordinate changing the main project with changing the
version in [hbase-connectors|https://github.com/apache/hbase-connectors], since
we use avro directly in that repo.
