Yes, mixed versions are tested from time-to-time, and since the ZK community
agreed to announce 3.4 EOL, it's been actually tested lately - both newer
version of client with older version of ensemble, and vice versa.
Of course the client should not attempt to use any new features in 3.5.x, it
will be an unhandled exception.
