Bharath Vissapragada commented on HBASE-24260:
----------------------------------------------
I was playing around with chaos on branch-1 cluster and I figured this little
tool would be helpful for by-passing SSH requirements. Back porting it to
branch-1 so that it can be useful for everyone. Some conflicts while
back-porting
- Java 7/8 incompatibilities, had to rewrite a bunch of Java 8 stuff
- Coprocessor interface changes (its totally different in branch-1)
- No Junit test rules
- Admin/protobuf incompatibilities
- Lack of parameterized logging support in log4j
- Module layout is different, there is no hbase-endpoint module
.....
Would be good to have another pair of eyes on the back port before committing.
The tests pass for me locally.

> I have a need to run the chaos monkey in an environment where ssh access is
> restricted. I can get most of what I need via {{RESTApiClusterManager}},
> however {{kill -9}} is a critical and unsupported command. I have a
> {{ClusterManager}} that implements {{kill}} via an executor coprocessor.
