Review comment:
       @joshelser  If `stream` is null, it will do nothing in the `unbuffer()` 
method, all the operations in the `if (stream != null)` judgment,  and the 
`instanceOfCanUnbuffer ` only used in `unbuffer()` ,  so it will NOT hit the 
NPE.
