[~zhangduo] you seem to be pressing on w/ your notion of how split should be
done ahead of agreement around design and plan. Mind responding above to
[~toffer] questions and giving design another look. Advantages accredited to
one approach -- narrow API on ROOT -- no longer seem exclusive to one approach
only and so ditto for caching approach. Thanks.
