I'd classify it as a "nice to have". It is particularly useful in environments
where the master servers potentially change on the fly (k8s?) and saves manual
re-configuration efforts.

Agree, this is the reason I wanted to back-port it. It is very unlikely that
anyone is actually using this in production, so I thought it'd be safe.
