Yes, I agree there is a race with AsyncWAL implementation. Replication shipper 
thread checks the following..

`beingWritten` semantics are not tight in the async wal implementation. We 
switch the currently active writer instance but we still write the trailer in 
the background and that makes this thread think that the file is not active 
anymore but sees that there `trailer` worth bytes pending to be read leading to 
a bump of this metric.. thinking of a proper way to fix this.. (with out 
breaking the "async"-ness guarantees of the WAL implementation)..
