I am already running hbase with `PARANOID` level for quite some time. In fact, I added touch() calls at few places in decoder side and yet I could not see a single leak detector trace coming from hbase, it was only coming from Netty side. But yes I have dedicated cluster running in SASL secure mode that has paranoid level turned on (it's test cluster but we ingest pretty heavy load using Phoenix).
