I also verified that the trunk build works. The autobuild are not failing as 
well, so this must be due to the special environment.

Varunkumar: Make sure you have Maven3 and you run the mvn command in the root 
directory of a clean HBase checkout (not that you cannot build from the sources 
included in the HBase tarball).
