[~GeorryHuang] Yes, i will continue on this in couple of days.
[~bbeaudreault] The reason I opened a sub-task Jira for better tracking because
hbase 3 only has alter async support, and hbase 2 has support for both sync and
async in alter, and the changes were not directly compatible.
I am okay with with backport in the orignal Jira too. Since this Jira is a
sub-task of HBASE-25549, maybe we can update the fixVersions in the parent Jira
too, once this is resolved. I hope this makes sense as this jira, is a sub-task
of the parent jira. I am fine with either.
