Thanks for pointing to the earlier discussion. I understand that preserving the zero-length-to-null mapping in Spark 4 was a deliberate choice to match Spark 3, not an unexamined omission. PR #170 changes only the Spark 4 reader and would alter that established behavior, so I do not want to assume the design choice has changed. Would you prefer this PR be closed or reworked to preserve the existing mapping, or is a deliberate cross-version semantic change acceptable here?
