Ted Yu commented on HBASE-7797:
-------------------------------
I understand what this JIRA proposes.
I was thinking how we can migrate to o.a.hbase in one shot.
Currently we have:
trunk tyu$ find . -name '*.java' | wc
1521 1521 133734
By the time we prepare 1.0 or 2.0, there would be ~2000 files. We should think
about the following questions:
1. who would migrate ~2000 files in matter of day - more than one. We can
partition the work among volunteers.
2. how long trunk should be frozen so that this renaming can be completed
without many rebasings
If we have clear plan, I am fine with reverting to single namespace for now.
> Use consistent package name

> This has been discussed here: http://search-hadoop.com/m/bXxiV1MGsYi2.
> We should not release 0.96 with two namespaces. This will cause further pain
> and confusion in the future (like log4j configuration, greping logs, etc).
> As much as I like it, I don't see us going o.a.hbase namespace, so let's move
> the Cell, and prefix tree classes to o.a.hadoop.hbase.
