bq. Regards protoc, yeah, if you were going to gen pb classes, you might be in
awkward position where you would different protocs. You think this a killer
(2.5 has some purported speedups....).
I worry about collisions between different versions of the protobuf library jar
on the classpath wrt. HBase and the HDFS client.
Needing distinct versions of protoc for building HBase and Hadoop is not a big
deal (for me).
