My opinion is that the less places the poor operator has to trawl, the better
for them. .out already catches thread dumps so I'd think that the operator
would go there anyways looking for thread dumps. Having thread dumps usually
show in .out but then when we thread dump because of a hung server, an operator
needs to go to a distinct file, will only confuse (IMO)
