I don't follow at all what you are saying above. You are not sure what fixed
the problem and you present a spaghetti list of how we start up clusters in our
test util to conclude "a little extra manipulation is needed...".
+1 on patch. I want to put this issue out of its misery. Can open a new one
if still incompatibility issues running against hadoop2.
