Looks like 3 tasks are combined into one ticket
1. Add more logging.
2. Add new config parameter - timeout (hive.metastore.server.tcp.timeout.sec)
3. Add ability to execute "add partitions" statement in a separate transaction
per partition
How Jira title "better logging/etc. for stuck metastore" relates to "executing
... statements in a separate transaction".
Do you want to add some unit tests to make sure that timeout and transaction
separation work?
Don't you think it's better to create a separate Jira for #3?
I think it would be easier to get +1 for logging and timeout then.
