I have a local patch where that check is improved and more robust. The idea is
to only call this code when it is a Reduce side SMB. Its an added precaution to
ensure it does not break anything unintentionally.

I would have loved to have a ptest run had it not been ruined by recent
changes. I had two positions in the queue and none of them ran and now I am not
even in the queue. Its a disaster.
