Hey [~kgyrtkirk], how about we do it this way:
# The old id should only be set to the original id if it's a cloned operator.
# Explicitly set the old id in: 
{{SerializationUtilities::cloneBaseWork,cloneOperatorTree,clonePlan}}, and 
{{Operator::cloneOp,clone}}.

What do you think?
