oh...I see; so far I assumed that the increased execution time was the main
symptom....I'm not sure if this test is supposed to take that long...or does it?

I think if you have something which could fix handle "Unable to shutdown
metastore client" we should commit that...that happened a lot lately...could
you please open a ticket for it and upload it?
