[~pxiong] backported this to branch-1.0 (for release 1.0.2) so the Fix
Version/s should be updated. See commit
0f7605338739c0c849a32c336e6d3d23eb959c7d.
While I have your attention, does this need any documentation or will HIVE-8469
cover it?
