Lefty Leverenz commented on HIVE-11378:
---------------------------------------

[~alangates], in Getting Started you retained the word "install" in the build
command for master but deleted it for branch-1:

* $ mvn clean install package -Pdist
*  $ mvn clean package -Phadoop-1,dist

I'm guessing "install" should be in both commands.

Thanks for upholding the standard of two spaces between sentences. Later on
I'll probably trim it to one, just for consistency, but in my heart I know
you're right.

I'll review the other docs tomorrow. (Even night owls need to sleep sometimes.)

> When we branched branch-1 one of the goals was the ability to remove hadoop1
> support from master. I propose to do this softly at first by removing it
> from the poms removing the 20S implementation of the shims.
> I am not going to remove the shim layer. That would be much more disruptive.
> Also, I haven't done the homework to see if we could, as there may still be
> incompatibility issues between various versions of hadoop2.
