@zabetak I don't think the variables unused are intentional. In thrift
issuse（https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/THRIFT-5297 ），the parameters
requestTimeout and beBackoffSlotLength are removed, because it adds a lot of
complexity to the code and doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
