I wasn't sure whether deleting variables out of HiveConf would break any users.
I believe all of the ORC documentation has already moved to
http://orc.apache.org . In particular, it should be:
The Hive Configuration Properties - ORC File format is in

The Hive Language Manual -ORC files is in
http://orc.apache.org/docs/spec-intro.html .
