It's not because of the technical limitations that we've been staying away from this. It's because of the bad practices it encourages to actually use this. Perhaps we can introduce some "DDL" metadata type where we have some functionality to go along with it on the level of a pipeline (in the Pipeline Action for example). A button in the Table Output transform (and elsewhere) to add DDL to a metadata element or create a new one. You could then have one type of DDL metadata to have the DDL calculated on the fly, with the possibilities you mentioned.
