When we use the word "field" in our docs, it is an input stream field that should be fairly consistent in all our transforms and documentation. When it is user-written input, we use the word "value". The error-handling hop is not mandatory and it's written in the documentation page you are pointing to: > A summary of the differences is available as the normal output of the transform.
