Separate affected test coverage from merge requirements so maintainers can cancel advisory CI without blocking Memory, license checks or CodeQL startup. | Before | After | | --- | --- | | All selected module tests feed one required gate; scans and compatibility wait for it. | Require only license and genuine Memory tests. Related modules, CodeQL and platform checks run independently and remain advisory. | | Documentation can still trigger Java scans; cancellation couples unrelated results. | Explicit prose-only changes skip builds and PR scans. Summaries show concrete selected checks and their actual outcomes. | | Memory compiles unrelated reactor modules; published Compose smoke runs twice; HBase downloads a tar archive. | Narrow the reactor, keep one smoke and prepare the same HBase version in one digest-pinned container with a five-minute budget. | Keep current behavior-test coverage and current-image checks. Only required push workflows automatically retry; PRs and advisory workflows use manual reruns. Advancing master alone does not invalidate completed results. **Migration:** `.asf.yaml` requests `check-license` and `Server memory tests`. Existing check names remain available during migration; verify live protection removes old module/CodeQL requirements after merge before independently cancelling advisory work. **Validation:** policy and retry checks, workflow lint, coverage-upload contracts and the narrowed Java 17 compilation pass. GitHub CI must verify the cold HBase image pull, startup and existing functional tests before this PR is ready to merge. ## Does this PR potentially affect the following parts? - [ ] Dependencies - [x] Modify configurations - [ ] The public API - [ ] Other affects - [ ] Nope ## Documentation Status - [x] `Doc - Done`: `docs/ci.md` - [ ] `Doc - TODO` - [ ] `Doc - No Need` -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
