Correction to my comment above: ca0ef9109 is not on this PR. I pushed it to a different branch on my fork (u5-error-metadata), while this PR's head is still ed8344d, so the changes described there (legacy-shaped success responses, the SyntaxError classification fix and the strict-parse test) are not in the diff here yet. I'm holding off on pushing them for now and will update this PR once the related docs PR has settled. Until then please review this PR as it stands at ed8344d, and treat the earlier comment as describing a pending change, not the current state.
