The Loader launcher appended `-Xmx10g` after `JVM_OPTS`, so a caller requesting 128 MiB actually received a 10 GiB maximum heap. Put the default first so caller heap limits take precedence; launches without an override retain the existing default. Validation: launcher contracts pass for Bash/sh, and real Java 17 runs confirm the default and caller-selected heap sizes. Independent review found no blockers.
