Hi @MaxNevermind, we discussed this PR in the [Iceberg - Spark Community Sync](https://docs.google.com/document/d/19nno1RoPznbbxKOZZddZNHHafa7XULjbN6RPExdr2n4/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.rav6546y5se4) but I forgot to update it here in the PR. In general, the community is trying to move away from extensions as they can be fragile and hard to maintain. We should aim to add the syntax in Spark if feasible.
