I think it is particularly interesting with CREATE TABLE LIKE or similar commands. It is kind of close to IMPORT of Hive partitions. We can follow that and support appending or overriding all files in a path. If we want, we can make this procedure to accept a single file too. @RussellSpitzer, could you suggest how this procedure should look like?
