Thanks for the backport! Metadata-only deletes still go through `SparkTable.deleteWhere` -> `SparkTableUtil.determineWriteBranch(spark, branch)`, which keeps the `"Cannot write to both branch and WAP branch"` guard. So `DELETE FROM t.branch_audit WHERE <whole-partition predicate>` with `spark.wap.branch` set should still throw, while INSERT/row-level ops now succeed. #15288 updated this path.
