Review comment:
For example, we could expose a hook to provide logic for checking
whether a particular operation is already committed. Kind of what we have in
Structured Streaming where Spark gives us queryId and batchId.
Alternatively, blocking indefinitely may be an option. However, we keep only
last 100 metadata files (by default) so the longer we wait, the less likely we
will correctly check if a commit was applied.
