If you have further ideas (or even better, a PR), I'm definitely open to hearing them as I'd love to get this fixed. As I said, I'll try to reach out to some contacts who might be able to shed more insight. If Spark even threw a different exception based on Cascade, we could catch it and then delete everything and retry.
