I just bumped into the same issue when I rebased my fork to 1.1.0 release tag. This issue can be reproduced by changing these https://github.com/apache/iceberg/blob/master/build.gradle#L153-L154 to `11` instead of `1.8` cc: @rdblue, @Fokko, @nastra , @gaborkaszab I am not sure whether we need a new release just for this fix (1.1.1).
