Looking at this again now, the error says you are using a direct RDBMS as your hive metastore, is this correct? I'm not as familiar with how this works but I do believe it means that it is missing expected tables and the direct rdbms hive client isn't currently enabled to make them. If you have already been using this RDBMS as hive it probably does mean it was previously used directly with a different version.
