The majority of async public APIs return *CompletableFuture*, however there are
some occurrences of *CompletionStage* too.
As discussed on the [dev
list|https://lists.apache.org/thread/tx15hpbddnq4tfkwyvjlgfyvnbb7xzwx], we
should use *CompletableFuture*.
