Most likely due to a [recent
commit|https://github.com/netty/netty/commit/4a6f31ac2b938124c1b97e09429419a2929add90]
in Netty, it's allocator started to preallocate more direct memory, which lead
to `OutOfDirectMemoryError`s when a lot of nodes were started in some tests.
Switching to a different allocator seems to fix the issue.
