Goal
Analyze the reliability of the historical (WAL-based) rebalance mechanism
in a multi-data-center (MDC) setup. Verify that data is not lost or corrupted
under various failure scenarios: node restarts, source node loss, WAL
truncation, concurrent writes during recovery.
Scope
- Strategy selection (full vs historical) under all edge cases
- Fallback behavior when historical is impossible (WAL unavailable, source
down)
- Protection against data corruption on full rebalance (stale source
exclusion)
- Message ordering guarantees for historical supply
- Multi-restart stability (counter recovery)
- Cross-version compatibility
