Denis Magda commented on IGNITE-4837:
-------------------------------------

[~appodictic],

At the discovery level, Ignite requires providing an implementation of
so-called IP finder component that does a simple thing - it shares a list of
Apache Ignite nodes that connected to the cluster earlier or might be a part of
it and the new Apache Ignite node will walk-through this list in its attempt to
join the cluster. That's it. The rest of the discovery subsystem is transparent
for the users.

If a new IP finder can be built on top of Apache Gossip then it's great and we
would like to hear the benefits and necessity of this IP finder in compare to
available ones:

> I notice that ignite has a few systems for node discovery.
> http://gossip.incubator.apache.org/ is finishing it's second release and I
> would like to see if the ignite community believes Gossip can be used as a
> discovery layer. On the surface a no SPOF system like Gossip seems like a
> good fit but I am still ramping up as to what the specific requirements for
> ignite would be.
