Oracle JDK is being used.
I am testing with two nodes (one on my windows machine - the machine specified
in the TcpDiscoverySpi) and the one on the solaris machine. Does it matter that
even though both nodes are running Java 7, they use different build numbers
(solaris=build 1.7.0_11-b21 and windows=build 1.7.0_71-b14)?
1. Confirmed, all servers are using 1.1.0-incubating.
2. Yes I am setting the jdk marshaller as follows in my example-ignite.xml file:

3. The solaris node can start by itself, when the TcpDiscoverySpi bean is not
specified. (Just to note that both machines can indeed ping each other)
