Just from looking at the code ... it's probably to isolate the iterator from `deletions` changing while the iterator is iterating. I'm not sure it is necessary. I would have thought your way worked as well. Would you like to put in a PR? What is your use case for tracking changes There is now `jena-rdfpatch` to track changes in another way.
